Carmen Marten:

When I previously wrote in, saying that the University doubled our printing costs, I did not mean that they doubled it from 4 to 8 cents. If most of the cost goes toward things other than paper, then let us assume 1 cent out of the 4 cents previously allotted for one page goes toward paper. I say 1 cent because that is the smallest whole amount that can be taken from the 4 cents, and I also assume that the University IS charging us some amount for paper; do you really think they would give us free paper? If that is true, they are now charging us 2 cents for every sheet of paper: charging us twice for the same page. Even if that smallest amount goes toward paper, our cost should STILL decrease from the switch to double-sided printing, even if it decreases by one cent. Even if it cost a quarter of a cent for a sheet of paper, our cost per sheet should now decrease. So, my assertion still stands: that in a time of an 11 percent increase for some people in tuition, the University doubled our printing costs, and if you don’t want to be charged twice, print single-sided.
