Among new details that have been released about Sunday’s early-morning stabbings is that one of the victims is a Purdue student.
The two victims are Sebastian Evans-Boccolucci, 18, of Vernon Hills, Ill., and Jihad Abdallah, 19, of Mundelein, Ill.
Jim Bush, editor for Purdue News Service, confirmed that Evans-Boccolucci is a Purdue freshman in the College of Liberal Arts.
Police said the stabbings were a result of a fight that broke out around 1:45 a.m. Sunday after a Halloween party in the 300 block of Stadium Avenue. West Lafayette Police Lt. Troy Harris said the fight started after an argument over theft.
“It was theft from one of the residences there on Stadium Avenue, theft of money,” he said.
Both victims were taken to local hospitals after being stabbed, according to police. Harris said he did not know the severity of the injuries.
“One was a stab wound to the arm, one was a stab wound to the back,” he said.
After interviewing several individuals in the area of the stabbings, police arrested two suspects Sunday: Quinten Stamper, 19, on a charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon; and Matthew Longcor, 18, on charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and theft.
Harris said neither of the suspects arrested Sunday are still in custody.
“They are not, they have both bonded out of jail,” he said.
