A concert will highlight local bands from the Tippecanoe area.

Three area bands will perform at the live concert Lafayette Rocks: The Rhett Morehouse Band, the lead act with CDs now on iTunes; Alanna Story, a local sister act with great harmonies and guitar work; and The Nations, with the brother of famous Christian singer Jeremy Camp.

The Rhett Morehouse Band will be playing hits like “To Your Heart” and “All You Are.”

“I’m super-stoked to see what the music scene will bring to Lafayette,” said frontman Rhett Morehouse.

“Lafayette Community Church wants to be a church that benefits the community and benefits the local artist” said pastor Jeff Mikels, who is involved with the event.

Mikels used to host open mic night at Skylight Coffeehouse and was able to meet local artists there. He is hoping this event will provide entertainment for the community.

Lafayette Rocks will be Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 6th St.

Tickets are $6 or $5 for groups of five or more people, which can be bought in advance online at LafayetteRocks.com or at the door. There will be concessions available for guests who choose to stay for the whole concert.

When the ticket is purchased, there will also be a voting stub that allows visitors to vote for favorite bands, and the profits will be distributed based on how many votes each band received.

The opening act, The Clutter, won a Youtube contest, based on ratings and page views. Because of their win, the band won $50, and will also have a table to sell their merchandise there with the other artists.

The touring Michigan Christian band, Thicker Than Water, will be also be making an appearance.

The concert is meant to let people know there are really high quality musicians in the Lafayette area.

Tickets and information on the bands are online at LafayetteRocks.com.
