West Lafayette city engineers found evidence of soil and groundwater contamination near the site of an ongoing environmental clean-up project near the intersection of Yeager Road and Cumberland Avenue.

Lab results provided to the city show elevated levels of the chemicals perchlorothene and trichloroethene.

The 2900 block of Yeager Road is the area of an Indiana Department of Environmental Management directed clean-up at the former site of CTS Corporation.

"When we received the results from our environmental consultant, we immediately contacted IDEM officials and asked them to act immediate," said West Lafayette mayor John Dennis. "That meeting occurred on Monday of this week and we expressed our deep concern that this newly discovered contamination be dealt with quickly and completely."
