The Purdue University Fire Department responded to our motor home this past Saturday while we were visiting campus for the final home football game of the season. Our CO2 detector was going off and it was thought that we were inside. Neighboring motor homers that were not aware of our absence feared the worst and put out the call for help. They later apologized to us when we returned. We did our best to convince them that certainly no apologies were in order. After all, had we in fact been asleep inside their decision to get involved combined with the response by the Purdue University Fire Department could very well have saved our lives.

As far as we are concerned the PUFD did an outstanding job. They entered our motor home through an unlocked window, turned off the generator, opened all the windows, re-locked the deadbolt on our door and exited back out through the window, leaving a tag on the door explaining their actions. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for exercising such care to our motor home and confirming that there was no one inside in distress.

Thank you for a job well done!
