Did team actually ‘compete’ at Wisconsin?

In Wednesday’s edition of The Exponent, the article entitled “Bucket – All or Nothing,” Danny Hope was quoted saying that the football team “didn’t win as many games as (they) would’ve liked to, but (they) competed in every game...”  I just have one question: Does Danny Hope truly believe Purdue competed in Madison, Wisc., when Purdue was manhandled 37-0? All I ask for is some honesty. I give credit that Purdue competed in the rest of its games, and hopefully (no punintended) we will compete and BEAT IU on Saturday. Good luck to the Boilers!
