Response to Nov. 11 article:

Across the world to say I love you – wonderful gesture, and a true inspiration, Hochstetler and Replogle, but haven’t we seen this in a movie before? I want originality in a proposal! So here I go:

A beautiful fall evening, a nice restaurant, a pleasant walk in the woods. The sun begins to set, the colors painted in the sky just right, and a conversation continues on through the evening. The stars reflect on the lake, and the man gets on one knee and ties his shoe. You see, the woman has been expecting it – they’ve talked about if it was the right time, the evening was perfect – surely the man cannot propose now.

The evening continues, the walk concludes, and the seemingly perfect evening begins to wind down. On the drive home, conversation’s going splendidly of course, lights appear in the darkness; however, it was not the lights of stars, but that of a cop. As the couple pulls over, the officer turns on the megaphone and asserts for both driver and passenger to step out of the car. He orders them to the back of the car, and then approaches the man. In a stern voice, he yells at him, and begins to search him. After feeling the jacket, he (the police officer who is also a friend of the man) commands that the man get on his knee at once. The man does so, and pulls the ring out of his jacket pocket, promising to love and cherish her forever, for he would be the luckiest man alive to spend a lifetime with this intelligent, beautiful woman inside and out who stood in front of him – his best friend.

What does the journalist (who’s now written two romance stories) think?
