Newsweek editor speaks on economic leadership

Jon Meacham, editor of Newsweek magazine, author of multiple biographical studies and Pulitzer Prize winner, will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. today in Loeb Playhouse about global crisis confrontation with historical and contemporary presidents.

Meacham’s discussion, titled “Economic Leadership in a Time of Crisis: Then and Now,” will be the opening presentation in the Sears Lecture Series. The series is sponsored by the department of history and will feature a total of four speakers that will focus on the theme “Presidential Leadership in Global Economic Crisis.”

Randy Roberts, a distinguished professor of history, said Meacham is a great speaker for this series because he is perfectly poised between academics and journalism.
