UPDATE (1:04 pm): Chemical fire causes Mechanical Engineering evacuation
The Mechanical Engineering Building was evacuated Tuesday as Purdue University firefighters extinguished a small chemical fire.
The fire was started by a chemical reaction and was limited to a five-gallon container that was partially filled with hydrogen peroxide, water and sulfuric acid. The building was evacuated for about 55 minutes.
