The Exponent, an independent college newspaper published by the Purdue Student Publishing Foundation, is Indiana's largest collegiate daily newspaper. The Exponent is primarily a student operation. There are approximately 150 students who work at the newspaper and only seven full-time professionals. All student staff members receive stipends for their work.

Exponent alumni include politicians, physicians, lawyers, judges, professors, advertising executives, business leaders, scientists, engineers and, of course, journalists.

The Exponent was founded on Dec. 15, 1889 and operated as any other student organization until 1969. Its building - the first of its kind in the nation - was built in 1989 without any state, university or tax funds. For more historical information click "Exponent History" below.

Article Reprint Policy

The Purdue Exponent requires written authorization to copy any of its stories for whatever distribution purposes.

Photo Reprint Policy

The Purdue Exponent provides negatives for photo reprints for non-commercial use. Payment for usage of the photo, as well as a deposit for the negative strip is required.
